Found online – a meme to further the Christmas spirit. Please feel free to copy to your blogs, I didn’t create it…I’m just continuing the chain.
1. Eggnog or hot chocolate?
Both, though not at the same time. Also, hot spiced cider!
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Growing up they were never wrapped. I wrap them for my son.
3. Colored lights on the tree/house or white?
Both on the tree – could go either way on the house. What I usually do is get pre-lit white trees and then add a strand of color – larger bulbs, or bulbs with funny shapes, or blinking color, etc…something different than the white.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
5. When do you put your Christmas decorations up?
Usually after Thanksgiving but this year I did it a few weeks before Thanksgiving! I really needed some Christmas cheer.
6. Favorite holiday dish?
The Christmas Eve antipasto. And Italian Christmas cookies.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Getting a battery powered car one year…I think it was a Corvette…and I think I was about 3. My grandfather bought it for me and man I thought that was the coolest thing ever. (It may well have been!) But I have so many favorite holiday memories, it’s hard to pick just one.
8. When did you learn the truth about Santa?
I have no idea! Isn’t that odd? No recollection of the age or circumstance whatsoever.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Not me, but I give my son one. It’s a box with his Christmas PJs and a special Christmas book (different PJs & book each year) for us to read before bed. In the future I may include a DVD, popcorn, etc. We instituted this tradition in his first Christmas last year and will continue it this year.
10. How do you decorate a tree?
Eclectic! The one that stays in our living area is baby and cat proof. The “family tree” is just full of memories, some breakable, some homemade, etc.
11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
I like it. Shoveling it is good cardio too, though I haven’t been able to do it much with a toddler to watch out for constantly.
12. Can you ice skate?
Not done it in years and was shaky.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Haha, see #7? I remember the year my son was born (or the Christmas right before it, since there’s about 3 weeks between Christmas and his birthday) my sister bought me a very expensive digital video camera which was a seriously awesome gift, and I love it. It let me take videos in the hospital, etc.
14. What is the most important thing about the holidays to you?
Family, giving gifts, sharing laughter and love.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Italian Christmas cookies and Christmas Eve cake.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Christmas crackers on Christmas Eve – pulling the crackers, wearing the paper crowns, telling corny jokes!
17. What tops your tree?
A star on mine, an angel on the family tree (the angel is an antique one made of corn husks).
18. Which do you prefer-Giving or Receiving?
19. Favorite Christmas song?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Judy Garland), Christmas at Sea (Sting) or Snow (Loreena McKennitt), also Silent Night (as done by TSO), O Holy Night & the Bing Crosby/David Bow quodlibet Little Drummer Boy & Peace on Earth.
20. Candy Canes-Yuck or Yum?
Only the cherry, rainbow colored kind.
21. Favorite Christmas show?
Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas, Blackadder’s Christmas Carol, ANY of the Are You Being Served? Christmas specials…gosh, a whole lot of others…
22. Saddest Christmas song?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas…I think that’s why it’s my favorite…as much as I like Christmas I always get a tiny bit melancholy at times.
